New Thinking and New Achievements of China’s Social Development since the 18th CPC National Congress

在新的发展理念指导下，社会建设和经济建设同等重要，只有这样才能弥补社会建设的短板，顺利实现经济和社会的真正协调发展。社会建设不仅有特定的范畴，而且有特殊的规律。党的十八大报告指出，“加强社会建设，是社会和谐稳定的重要保证。必须从维护最广大人民根本利益的高度，加快健全基本公共服务体系，加强和创新社会管理，推动社会主义和谐社会建设”，由此完成了社会建设双核驱动、双向互动的新布局。本文以十八大以来习近平总书记系列讲话精神为依据，以党中央和国务院的文件为根据，以经济社会实际发展为论据，全面回顾了这五年间我国社会建设七大领域取得的重要成就，并对未来的社会建设进行展望。

Under the guidance of the new development concepts，social development and economic development are equally important. This is the only way to strengthen the weaknesses in China’s social development，and to achieve balanced economic and social development. Social development not only has its own category， but also follows specific rules. The report of the 18th CPC National Congress points out，“To strengthen social development…We must intensify our efforts to improve the basic public service system， strengthen and make innovations in social management， and boost the building of a harmonious socialist society in order to uphold the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people.” Therefore， this completes a new pattern of social development with “dual-core drive” and “two-way interaction”. This article is based on a series of speeches given by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the aftermath of the 18th CPC National Congress and documents released by the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council. It provides a comprehensive review of the significant achievements made in seven areas of social development in the past five years，and gives an outlook for social development in the future.
