第二次世界大战结束之初 ,西欧华侨华人总数只有一万来人 ,夹杂在全球数以千万计的海 外华侨华人当中 ,微不足道。然而 ,就在 20 世纪最后四分之一世纪内 ,欧洲华人群体以出人意料的速度急剧增长, 尤其是进入20 世纪 90 年代以后 ,伴随着欧洲一体化的进程 ,欧洲华侨华人加强了与欧洲各国侨团之间的交往、协调与合作, 在全球海外华人的政治、经济、文化活动中,也表现得空前活跃。 “欧洲华侨华人社团联合会”成立于 1992 年 ,是一个以欧洲各国华侨华人社团为基础的全 欧性华人联谊团体。笔者在 1986 年至 1999 年期间, 曾先后在欧洲学习 、研究、工作近 7 年 ,参加过欧华联会的多次会议 ,对欧华联会主要领导人及各界华人做过广泛访谈。 本文以欧华 联会为个案 ,追溯20 世纪末叶欧洲华人社会的发展变化 , 探讨欧洲华人中的领袖人物努力实践跨国网络制度化的主观动机及客观效果。

European Federation of Chinese Organizations (EFCO), the first Europeanwide association for all pro-Beijing Chinese associations, was officially set up in May 1992 in Amsterdam . Taking EFCO' s founding background and its organizing process as a special angle to start the research , this paper aims to explore two aspects .First , when Europe become increasingly united , how the forward-looking Chinese association leaders use their social resources from their country of origin to formalize their transnational links and struggle for a leading position at the European level .Second , how their efforts have been realized as the collectivityowned social capital , and , moreover, which to what degree has affected their social status .
