The Construction of Authority-Based Stratum System: An analysis based on work situation and organizational authority

本文属于阶层分类体系或图式的基础性研究。主要针对分层的经验研究中存在的如下不足:权力很少成为直接使用的变量,或者缺乏一致的测量方法来检验权力分配的假定,因而很少从经验上描述社会权力的结构特征等。本文以权力—支配关系作为阶层分析的基本维度,使用2006年中国综合社会调查(CGSS2006)的城市数据,基于对工作状况和组织权威关系的直接测量,构建起一个权威阶层体系;并通过对该体系外衍变量的分析,揭示了各种社会位置的权力—支配关系本质。在此基础上,继而从社会经济状况、雇佣状况、主观阶层地位认同、生活方式四个方面,对权威阶层分类图式的经验建构效度进行了检验。

This paper is a fundamental research on stratification system/schema. In the existing literature, power or authority is a rarely used variable in the empirical research of stratification, and researchers seldom describe the structural features of social power due to the lack of consistent measurement method of testing hypothesis on power distribution. Given the deficiency of empirical studies on social stratification, we construct an authority stratum system based on the direct measurement of work situation and organizational authority under the principle of power-domination relationship. The authors reveal the nature of the power-domination relationship among different social positions through analyzing the proxy variables of this stratum system. Finally, the paper tests the construction validity of the authority- based stratum system from four dimensions’ socioeconomic status, employment conditions, subjective identity of strata status, and life style.
